Not Junk to us!

Mike and I have been itching to make more one of a kind art. On our day off we figured it was time to head to our local metal scrap yard for some good old junking. As always, I wasn't prepared! First, I forgot my camera and of coarse I was wearing flip-flops, not a favorable shoe for walking in a muddy junk yard filled with metal. It was a fun family day for a group of crazy artist. We hunted for our treasures and came home with 600 pounds of steal!
This "junk" will soon become beautiful new displays for the shop. Can't wait to decorate!!

Mud Season in VT Sales!

Well, mud season is upon us here in VT and I feel like we all deserve a little cheer. During the week check out our Davallia wall on face book. I will be posting several special sale items during the week for the month of March. Here’s how it works: I’m going to post one of our beautiful handcrafted items and mark down the price anywhere from 20-50% off. The items will keep changing during the week and we will be offering this special deal on everything from jewelry, bags, art, kitchen ware, gifts and pottery. There will only be one of these items so it will go to the first person that stops in. Not to worry if you don’t live locally or can’t get to the store. website--ahhh,, its coming!!!

Mike has been busy working on our website. We are getting closer! Mike decided to re-design the existing site and to add some really cool features like a gift registry. So, back to work he goes with many cups of coffee pumping through his veins! Sometimes it is hard being a perfectionist, an artist, and a do-it-yourselfer!!

John Cassin - wood comes to life in Vermont

We are so excited to have new sculptures by John Cassin . This spring, DaVallia-Art and Accents on the green in Chester, VT will be having an incredible art show of sculptures in both wood and stone. The details in John's pieces are astonishing. This is a body of work that we encourage people to touch. The wood and stone come alive and tell a fascinating story.

Pottery in Southern Vemont

DaVallia is proud to carry some of Vermont's best potter's.
We have a wonderful new collection of pottery by Mathew Tell. Mathew fires his pottery in a wood fired kiln. The fire goes through each piece in the chamber and tells a surprising story every time. A Little about Mathew Tell:

My dialogue with clay is articulated in the 6,000 year old tradition of the functional vessel. I like the idea of my pieces becoming part of people's everyday life.

I am influenced by my environment, the Green Mountains of Vermont. This is reflective in the suggestive landscapes and colorful earth-tone glaze overlays I use to decorate my pots. A recent trip to Alaska has further opened more possibilities to colors, forms, and textures.
